Rodney Bay – An Overview

Rodney Bay Village was primarily a residential neighborhood but has now become a prime destination for visitors, with a wide variety of hotels, restaurants and bars. This is one of the most popular residential areas, on the island, because it has so much to offer.

Before the 1970’s the Village of Gros Islet was a small community isolated by a large area of swampland’s. This included much of what is now referred to as Rodney Bay and one of the island’s busiest beaches, Reduit Beach.

When the construction of the Marina and inner harbour began in the 1970’s the swampland’s were excavated. The earth that was removed was utilised to form the causeway that connects the original shoreline to Pigeon Island. Today, Pigeon Island is a National Landmark with ruins and beautiful views.

Every convenience can be found in here from shopping malls, restaurants and bars and schools along with some of the most sort after real estate.
